The video ad below is creative advertising. It goes beyond the land of the bland and into the world of creative. Even if you don’t want this car the ad almost makes you want to buy it anyway–just to say you did. Take an old, beat up Volvo, add a little story and boom–you have a great ad showing creative adverting. In addition, in one sense, this ad also begs to answer one question: What Makes Creative Advertising?
Good advertising consists of the following elements:
- It tells a story.
- It blends benefits into the story.
- It throws in a few features and specs, but not at the mercy of the story or the benefits.
- It includes music to match the moment.
- It gives the product some sex appeal, even if it’s not a “sexy” product.
- It’s fun.
- It’s simple.
- It makes you smile.
- It grabs your attention.
- It makes you think, Wow, I love this. It’s great!
- It makes you want to share it with friends, family members, and work colleagues.
- It gets your brain thinking.
- It makes you want to do something.
- And, it often make you buy.
