Few introductions are needed for Dr. Phillip Kotler. If you have studied marketing and have not read one of Kotler’s textbooks, you have not studied marketing. No Dr. Phillip Kotler, no marketing. His textbooks are classics for both undergrad and graduate schools of business worldwide. I read Kotler’s books in graduate school and continually return to them for guidance, review, and references. His canon of writings covers decades of marketing wisdom. Most who are successful in marketing today know the name Dr. Phillip Kotler. If you have not read Kotler’s work, you are missing a massive volume of marketing advice and wisdom.
If your considering an MBA program, one good test is to ask what marketing textbooks they use. If Dr. Phillip Kotler’s textbooks on marketing are not used, then look elsewhere. Kotler truely defines marketing, as I note in another blog post that speaks of his definition of marketing.
