This kid gets it. He made his own simple arcade: Caine’s Arcade. He’s nine years old. Some entrepreneurs go all their lives without turning cardboard into cash. Caine’s arcade blended the heart of a child, imagination, fun, cardboard, calculators, and simplicity into marketing and event magic. I love this story. It warms my heart and ignites my brain.
To date, Caine’s Arcade has made/raised close to $148,000 for college and has almost 80,000 likes on his Facebook page.
Watch it and wonder. Then, think of your small business:
Note also how Caine’s dad used the internet to salvage his small business. He turned a decrease in foot traffic to an increase in online sales. That’s what I call real duck tape marketing. Got any cardboard laying around? Perhaps we make our products and services too complicated?
Remember that a brick and mortar business that’s struggling can often be resurrected through an online store. One can ofter shift from brick to click to generate revenue, especially if your product is ship friendly. If you can put it in a box you can often generate cash flow from the long tail of niche markets. This nine year old’s dad did.
Now I’m thinking…
